Saint Stephen the First Martyr December 27

Saint Stephen the First Martyr December 27. With this gift he healed the sick and proved the power of Christ.

Ο Stephen he had dedicated his life to his preaching evangelical speech and charity action. For his contribution and virtues he was honored with the gift of miracle-working. With his deep theological training, he easily overturned the Jews' skepticism about the work of Christ, provoking their anger and envy.

And as the Bible says:

Stefanos, full of faith and power, makes monsters and big signs in the people.

(Acts of the Apostles, pp. 8-15, pp. 1-60)

The Jews, however, being prejudiced, spread slander among the people, spreading the word that they heard Stephen blaspheme Moses and God.

On the occasion of these slanders, which they themselves had sown, they grabbed Stefanos with hatred and led him in front of the Congress, immediately to apologize.

Stephen's apology was a model of boldness and courage. Without fear at all, he uttered words of lightning against the Jews.

Then the Jews, unrestrained by hatred, stoned him to death.

While the Jews were dragging him, to the martyrdom of Stephen the great forgiveness was seen after he said to God

Lord, do not set this sin on them

Lord, do not count on them this sin.
