Pentecost Sunday. The Divine Apparition 1 ′

On Sunday: on Pentecost is honored the apparition of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles. In remembrance of this event, every year, we celebrate with special splendor on the birthday of the Church, one day before the feast of the Holy Spirit.

This feast corresponds to the also great annual feast of the Jews which in the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) is called the Feast of the Harvest or the Feast of Weeks.

Fifty days after the Resurrection of the Lord, the Holy Spirit was taught to the 12 disciples, including the apostles of Jesus, so that, according to the Acts of the Apostles, they received the Holy Spirit speaking in tongues "about the wonderful works of God." , which was perceived by Jews and converts who were in Jerusalem for the Feast of Tabernacles.

As a result, after Peter's sermon, 3.000 new members of the Christian church were baptized that day.

Pentecost is a weekly holiday, ie it is celebrated every day of the week with a special fervor on Saturday. Of the meteoric days, the Monday that is dedicated to the Holy Spirit stands out, where the whole Sunday sequence is repeated in the same way.
