The Psychosabbath of Rousali or Pentecost 2 ′
This All souls day, it's the δsecond from the two Psychosabbaths of the year.
The Pentecostal Psychosabbath is also called Rousali, because it derives its origin from the Roman celebration of Rousalia or Rosalia.
It is the day when, according to popular belief, souls return to the Underworld, since during the Easter period they circulated freely on earth.
Also known from the vernacular couplet
All Saturdays to go, go and come back
On Roussali Saturday to go, not to return.
The reason that our Church established it, despite the fact that every Saturday is dedicated to the bereaved, is the following
Because many at times died young, either in exile or at sea or in the mountains and cliffs, or some, due to poverty, did not claim the ordered memorials, ».
All those who suffered "untimely death", in a foreign land and country, on land and at sea.
Those who died of infectious diseases, wars, frosts, earthquakes and natural disasters.
Those who were burned or lost.
Those who were poor and destitute and no one took care to honor them with the corresponding Sequences and Memorials.
