Canon Supplication to the Prophet David 32 p
Kanon Supplication to the prophetic and melodious David, poem by Archim. Nikodemou G. Aerakis.
David is a prominent Biblical figure. He was a shepherd, a musician, a poet, a military commander, a prophet and a king.
His name means Beloved.
The last years of his life were a period of very frequent wars with the Philistines.
The son of Adonijah tried to wrest the throne from Solomon, but finally with the intervention of Nathan he was prevented.
These calamities made David even more humble and brought him closer to God.
David also distinguished himself as an excellent musician. As Israel's psalmist and poet, he enjoyed singing hymns of praise on a variety of subjects.
He was a skilled guitarist and renowned for his musical abilities.
He composed hymns, built and invented instruments for worship, created the Temple orchestra with 4.000 musical instruments, and organized worship in the Temple.
At least he wrote 73 psalms, which even today are part of the worship of Jews and Christians.
