How do we light the candle?

Pour about a finger's worth of coarse salt into the candelabra and then add pure virgin olive oil.

Place the wick in the candlestick, fixing it well and as low as possible (about 2/3 of the wick should be dipped in olive oil) so that the candlestick does not smoke and also so that it does not burn quickly.

Place the candlestick in the candlestick cup and light the wick.

Why do we light the candle?

It reminds us that just as God is light, so should our lives be light.

It is our own sacrifice, a sign of gratitude and love for our Lord Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself for us.

As the lamp burns in the oil, so we must ask for God's mercy.
