In 1730, however, in a paradoxical way, while the temple was locked, the icon disappeared from the Monastery and for this reason the Fathers of Vatopedi considered this as sacrilege.

And while they began to look for her inside the Holy Monastery, they suddenly learned that the icon was found in the Holy Monastery of Xenophon, which is a three-hour walk from the Vatopedi Monastery.

Without any delay, the Vatopedi monks sent people to carry the image back.

When they brought her, they put her in the same place again, and took stricter measures for her safety and protection.

Again, however, the icon left its place, without compromising the security of the temple, that is, without breaking the doors and seals which remained intact.

When the Fathers of the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi realized this, they were now assured of the voluntary and miraculous departure of the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary from their monastery.

And when they were informed that once again the icon was found again in the Holy Monastery of Xenophon, they did not consider it reasonable to oppose the decision of the Virgin Mary to choose her own permanent place of residence.

For this reason, they all went together to her new abode just to worship her.

This is what the Fathers of Vatopedi Monastery did for many years, offering candles and oil in memory of this miracle.
