Description

Panagia Parigoritissa 96 p

According to tradition, the construction of the temple was undertaken by a great master builder.

While the work had progressed considerably, he, because he was in demand, was called upon to make plans for another church.

He then decided to leave for a while, instructing his assistant to continue the project until he returned.

However, his assistant, who was very intelligent and elegant, changed the plans of the master builder and built it in his own way.

When the master builder returned and saw the church complete, completely different and incomparably more beautiful than his own designs, he was jealous.

Envy drove him to extremes and he decided to take revenge on his assistant.

Believing that his work was flawless, he went up with him to see what the master builder had found. When he bent down to see, the master builder pushed him into the void.

But he managed to get caught on it and so they both got carried away. Legend has it that their bodies were fossilized and are found like two red stones in the courtyard of the temple.

The legend goes on and claims that the Virgin appeared to his mother kalfa to console her for the unjust loss of her son and that is why the church is called Consolation or Comforter.

The Begging Rule is also quoted.

The festivities narrate the history of its establishment, its deeper meaning and possibly its Sequence.
